Citation and Writing

When to Cite

You must cite your source each time you use words, data, and/or ideas that are not your own. Every quote, summary, and paraphrase requires a citation.

Styles

Kent School uses three styles of citation:

  • American Psychological Association Style (APA) is used by the Science Department.
  • Modern Language Association Style (MLA) is used by the English Department.
  • The Chicago Manual of Style (CMS or Chicago) is used by the History Department.

Learn more about each style by exploring the pages on the left.
